This forecast is computed for a different elevation

The National Weather Service grid cell covering Beech Mountain sits at about 4,925 ft, but the town itself is at 5,506 ft — 581 ft higher. Expect the real temperature here to run roughly 2°F cooler than the numbers below.

Grid cells average the terrain inside them, which in these mountains can mean averaging a river valley with a 5,000-foot ridge. This is the single biggest reason official point forecasts feel wrong here.

.DISCUSSION...
KEY MESSAGE 1: Dry conditions through midweek, with rain
chances late week.

Upper ridging will quickly build today behind a progressive
trough moving into the Atlantic. As a result, strong surface
high pressure will bring dry weather through at least Wednesday.
Ridging will begin to breakdown by Thursday and weak upper
disturbances will round the top of the ridge. This will begin
to introduce a daily chance for scattered afternoon rain/storms
through the weekend.

Temperatures remain elevated throughout the week, with 80s
across the mountains and lower 90s east of the mountains.
Overnight lows still mild...mainly in the low to mid 60s.

&&

.AVIATION /12Z MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Some areas of lower stratus across the mountains this morning.
BCB/BLF/LWB will have periods of MVFR to IFR over the next
couple of hours. Otherwise, should be VFR for all other
terminals and a return to VFR for the aforementioned by late
morning.

Winds northerly... 10 knots or less, with an occasional gust to
15 knots or so over the mountains.

Forecast confidence is high.

EXTENDED AVIATION OUTLOOK...

Mainly VFR expected through midweek, outside of any late night
fog at the usual places like LWB/BCB.
